The grammar is very important in learning English. So in this lesson,well review attributive clauses and do some related

5、 know the teaching content of GrammarIn this step, Ill ask students to recall the attributive clause,and then pick up 4 students to present their answers to us.(5)While they are answering , Ill make a supplement and stress on the important points. Show the following contents on blackboard or PowerPo

Attributive clausesFirstly, the structure of attributive clause is antecedents+relative pronouns or adverbs+clauseSecondly, what are the relative pronouns and adverbs？e.g who, whom, whose,which, that, when, where, why.How to use them in the attributive clause? Now, lets look at the following se

7、ntences.e.g She is the old woman whom I saw this morning. In this sentence ,whom reffers to the old woman and at the same time acts as the object of “saw”. Thirdly , “prep+ relative words” Look at the following two simple sentencses and combind them into one sentence with this structure.For example,

8、 The box is full of bottles. He is standing on the box. - The box on which he is standing is full of bottles. The box where he is standing is full of bottles.Fourth, the difference between Restrictive attributive clause and Non-restrictive attributive clause With the RAC deleted, the meaning of the

9、whole sentence will change. But if the N-RAC is deleted, it wont influence on the meaning of the whole sentence. Step 2 Practice (15) Purpose: To get Ss to have knowledge of the grammar through exercises. 一 Individually Work 1.Ask students to read the five sentences in activity 1 to find out the all

10、 antecedents。And then answer the following 5 questions.2. Ask students to change those two simple sentences into one compound sentence e.g It is soft, light,and warm- the ideal coat for an animal.The animal has to survive at high altitudes二、 Individually work to do the activities 2&3&4. If the stude

11、nts have a good understanding of attributive clause, they could do the two exercises directly. However, if they still dont know well, the teacher should introduce the usage of the relative pronouns and adverbals. For example, who refers to the people ,it acts as the subject or the object in the clau

12、se. After introducing the usage again, Ill ask them to find out the antecedents in each attributive clause and to judege what the role of the missing words is in the attributive clauses. Then choose the right relative words.Step 3 Consolidation(5)Purpose: To check whether the Ss have knowledge of th

13、e grammar or not through exercises. Ask the students to finish Activity 5 on P55.Step4 Conclusion(4)Purpose: To make a summary about the attributive clauses and stress on what they will grasp and improve.Give brief instructions of attributive clauses.
