3、enturous,dangerousanddeceptive.Weneedtostayalerttothefactthattheyarenowintensifyingtheireffortstopursuesecessionistactivitiesandso-calledTaiwanindependence.Theyarealsogoingallouttopursuetheirgoalofso-calleddejureTaiwanindependencethroughtheso-calledconstitutionalre-engineering.Ourcommitmenttotheone-
4、Chinaprinciplehasbeenconsistentandclear.Thatistosay,thereisonlyoneChinaintheworld.BothsidesoftheTaiwanStraitsbelongtotheoneandthesameChina.Chinassovereigntyandterritorialintegrityshouldalwaysbeintact.Iwouldliketotaketheopportunitytoreiteratethatnomatterwhateverpartyaffiliationstheymayhave,nomatterwh
5、otheyare,nomatterwhattheysaidordidinthepast,aslongastheyarecommittedtotheone-Chinaprinciple,wearereadytohavedialogueandnegotiationswiththem,evenincludingthosepeoplefromtheDemocraticProgressivePartyinTaiwan.Aslongasthatpartyiswillingtogiveupitsplatformfortheso-calledTaiwanindependence,wearewillingand
6、readytomakepositiveresponsestotheirmovesandwearewillingtohavecontactsandconsultationswiththem.Wewillnevergiveupoureffortsforpeacefulreunification.Atthesametime,wewillneverwaiveinouroppositiontosecessionistactivitiesforso-calledTaiwanindependence.WewillbynomeansallowTaiwantobeseparatedfromthemotherla

10、e,markinganewmilestoneinChinasaerospacehistoryandalsothefirstmoveofthecountrysdeepspaceexplorations,saidSunLaiyan,deputyheadoftheCommissionofScienceTechnologyandIndustryforNationalDefense.Sofar,eachstepinthelunarprobeprojecthasbeencompletedalmostperfectly,Sunsaid.WangYejun,chiefengineerofBACC,consid
11、ersthefirstbrakingjustintimetodeceleratetheprobe,enablingittobecapturedbythelunargravity.ThefirstbrakingatperiluneisakeymomentinthelongjourneyofChange-1,Wangsaid.ThespeedofChangeIreachedabout2.3kmpersecondwhenitstartedbraking.Itwouldlikelyflyawayfromthemoonifthebrakingwastooearly,oritwouldcrashintot
12、hemoonifthebrakingwastoolate,scientistsexplained.Afterthebraking,theprobesspeedwassloweddownto1.948kmpersecondandisnowtravelingalonga12-hourellipticalmoonorbit,withaperiluneofabout200kmandanapoluneofabout8,600km.TheorbitthatChangeIisnowmovingonfullytallieswiththeonewehavedesignedandthespeediswithina
13、normalrange,saidJiGang,anengineerofmonitoringandcontrollingbranchofthemoonprobeprogram.Theprobeisexpectedtobrakeforanothertwotimesinthefollowingtwodays,whichwillslowdownitsspeedfirstto1.8kmpersecondtohelpitentera3.5-hourorbitandthento1.59kmpersecondtomakeitentera127-minuteroundorbit,whereitissuppose
14、dtostartworkingformally.ChangeIwillthenstayayearintheroundorbit,whichis200kmfromthemoonssurface,forscientificexplorations.ChangeI,namedafteralegendaryChinesegoddesswhoflewtothemoon,blastedoffonaLongMarch3AcarrierrocketonOctober24fromtheXichangSatelliteLaunchCenterinsouthwesternSichuanProvince.Thepro
15、becompleteditsfourthorbitaltransferonOctober31,whichshiftedittotheearth-moontransferorbitandpushedittoflytothemooninarealsense.Thenitfliedanother114hourstoarriveattheperilune200kmawayfromthemoon.Itwaspreviouslymovingaroundtheearthandexperiencedthreeorbitaltransfers,whichlifteditupfirsttoa16-hourorbi
16、twithanapogeeof50,000km,thentoa24-hourorbitwithanapogeeof70,000kmandnexttoa48-hourorbitwithanapogeeofmorethan120,000km.OnNovember2,BACCsuccessfullycarriedoutanorbitalcorrectionforChangeItoensurethatittraveledonthepre-setorbit.AsecondorbitalcorrectionscheduledforNovember3wascalledoffbecauseitwasunnec
17、essary-ChangeIhadbeenrunningaccuratelyontheexpectedtrajectory,aBACCscientistsaid.The2,350-kgsatellitecarriedeightprobingfacilities,includingastereocameraandinterferometer,animagerandgamma/x-rayspectrometer,alaseraltimeter,amicrowavedetector,ahighenergysolarparticledetectorandalowenergyiondetector.Th
18、eultravioletimagesensors,putintoactualuseonasatelliteforthefirsttime,hasbegunworkingsinceOctober30tocollectinformationonboththeearthandthemoon.ChangeIisexpectedtorelaythefirstpictureofthemooninlateNovember.Itwillfulfilfourscientificobjectives,includingathree-dimensionalsurveyoftheMoonssurface,analys
19、isoftheabundanceanddistributionofelementsonlunarsurface,aninvestigationofthecharacteristicsoflunarregolithandthepowderysoillayeronthesurface,andanexplorationofthecircumstancebetweentheearthandthemoon.Chinaslunarorbiterprojecthascost1.4billionyuan(US$187million)sinceresearchanddevelopmentoftheproject
20、wasapprovedatthebeginningof2004.ThelaunchoftheorbiterkicksoffthefirststepofChinasthree-stagemoonmission,whichwillleadtoamoonlandingandlaunchofamoonroverataround2012.Inthethirdphase,anotherroverwilllandonthemoonandreturntoearthwithlunarsoilandstonesamplesforscientificresearchataround2017.Chinacarried
21、outitsmaidenpilotedspaceflightinOctober2003,makingitonlythethirdcountryintheworldaftertheformerSovietUnionandtheUnitedStatestohavesentmenintospace.InOctober2005,Chinacompleteditssecondmannedspaceflight,withtwoastronautsonboard.ThelaunchofChangeIcameshortlyafterJapanlauncheditsfirstlunarprobe,Kaguya,
22、inmid-September,whileIndiaisplanningtosenditsownlunarprobeintospacenextApril,sparkingoffconcernsofaspaceraceinAsia.ButLuanEnjie,chiefcommanderofChinaslunarorbiterproject,saidthatChinawillnotbeinvolvedinmoonracewithanyothercountryandinanyform.Chinawill,inpursuingitspolicyofpeacefuluseofairspace,share
23、theachievementsofthelunarexplorationwiththewholeworld,hetoldXinhua.3.Variouswordstoexpressthemeaningof“say”ChineseAmbassadoronSino-U.S.TieThenewChineseambassadortotheUnitedStateshasurgedAmericanstoconsidertheBritishagreementtoreturnHongKongtoChinaasanexampleforTaiwan,warningthatU.S.-Taiwantiescouldl
