2、. this isdefinitely a book everyone can relate to. The adventures of tom sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 bythe famous author mark twain. tom sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives inthe small town on the mississippi river called st. petersburg. the story line issimple, the bo
3、ok reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in tom sawyer'slife. Tom sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kidssuch as dennis the menace, malcolm in the middle, and calvin and hobbs. whatmakes this story great is that tom sawyer represents everything that is great
4、about childhood. the book is filled with tom's adventures playing pirates andwar with his friend joe harper. tom has a trusted friend, huck finn, who few ofthe adults approve of. the book is filled with ideas of how the world works,such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they
5、 could only comefrom a child. it is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas,love, and schoolyard politics. the whole story is seemingly a complication ofwhat people did or wish they did during their childhood. The book is a little difficult to read at first. personally, it takes me al
6、ittle while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. other thanreferring to persons of african decent in derogatory terms (which i'm sure usesterms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read forpeople of all ages. i highly recommend this book for anyone lo
7、oking to feelyoung again, if just for a few hundred pages. 英语名著读后感2 Those beautiful flowers -book review: “camille” I read the chinese version of “camille” a few years ago. at that time i wasdeeply moved by the main character marguerite gautier. “camille” or “the lady ofthe camellias” by alexandre d
8、umas, fils, is the story of marguerite gautier, ayoung courtesan, or kept woman, in paris in the mid 1800's, and how she falls inlove with a young man, armand duval, and then tries to escape from herquestionable past. unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends upreturning to that lif
9、e and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge thatshe was a noble woman at heart. when i first began to read the book, i did notcare for marguerite or her attitude or lifestyle, but as i got further into thenarrative, i realized that her saucy attitude was a front to cover the lonelywoman t
10、hat she really was. she felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentlearmand duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person andnot for what she could do for him. it must have taken great courage formarguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that
11、it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. and it alsoshowed that marguerite really loved armand duval for she could even changeherself for him. However, happiness didnt last for long. when m. duval, armand's father,came to her, pleading for her to leave armand to save
12、both armand's reputationand that of his younger innocent sister, marguerite saw a way to become pure ofheart, if not in body. she felt that it was her duty, because she loved armandso much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurtingarmand temporarily. she reluctantly
13、 returned to her former life, knowing thatsome day armand would forgive her. sadly, she died in debt and basically alone,except for her one female friend, julie duprat, who helped her during herillness. she had her journal sent to armand after her death, explaining why shehad made the choices she ha
14、d. i think dumas's last few lines about margueritebeing the exception, not the rule were quite true, and i also agreed with hisview that while her lifestyle could not be condoned, we as a society assume thatall of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always bethe case.
15、a person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, andtry to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them fromchanging their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. this appliesto both men and women in many different types of circumstances: involvement incri
16、me; drug or alcohol abuse; gambling; prostitution; financial problems; poormarriage choices; etc. and this is the fact, which exists in the wholesociety. As far as the other characters in the book, i think marguerite was right insaying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted something fro
17、m her,the only exceptions being armand and julie duprat. of course, the comte de g.and comte de n. wanted her body and appearance. the duke needed to “wake up andsmell the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. ifhe truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifesty
18、le without “keeping”her himself. and lastly, prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used margueritealmost worse than the men. i also think she was jealous of the fact thatmarguerite had so much more courage than herself and someone truly lovedher. Last morning, when tiding my bookshelf, i took this

23、e, mystery, humour, danger.there's even some pretty satisfying paybacks. the characters are fantastic andfantastically realistic. there are bad people who turn out to be good guys andgood people who turn out to be bad guys, just like life. I think the thing i like best about these books is the m
24、essage that it'sokay to be different - to be not "normal." i would love for everyone in schoolto have hear that message. it would probably reduce the bullying around theschool. These books value real thoughts. much has been made of harry's rulebreaking, but only once in the series
