4、 and significance of the studyMargaret Atwood, a well-known Canadian woman writer, is a typical postmodern intellectual writer. Her works not only originate from her own experience and perceptual knowledge, but also from postmodern theory, book knowledge and a lot of desk research. His masterpiece T

5、he Story of the Servant Girl is such an anti-utopian work which contains rich post-modern elements and the authors profound political views. Puns and other rhetorical devices are widely used in the novel. The narrative structure is pluralistic, the text has rich potential meanings, and contains a la

6、rge number of religious and cultural vocabulary and new words. The text itself has a deep intertwined relationship with power discourse, which makes translation very difficult. The most common way to assess different translations is to compare different versions of the same source language to determ

7、ine what is lost and what is retained in the translation. Therefore, on the basis of Skopostheorie, the author attempts to make a thorough analysis of the translation methods used by the Chinese translators in the English version of The Girls Story, and then to evaluate its communicative effect.The

8、author of this thesis attempts to analyze and compare the English translations of the The Handmaids Tale Season from the perspective of Skopos Theory. Through making a critique from the angles of the intended Skopos of the translation, linguistic elements and culture, it is hoped to uncover the reas

9、on why the translators adopt different translation methods and techniques.2.
