9、oWomen in love is Lawrences favorite novel.It depicts Ursula and her sister Gudruns experience of love.Ursula falls in love with Birkin,the school inspector,while Gudrun has a crush on Gerald,the young mine owner.Life experience leads the two pairs of lovers to an opposite result.Out of different ou

10、tlook,Gudrun and Gerald bring their love to an end with the death of Gerald in Alps,whereas Ursula and Birkin get married.Through the different consequence of the two pairs of lovers,Lawrence means to explore the possibility of establishing a complete relationship in such developed industrial societ

11、y when the obstacles between man and man and man and woman.Love Line Gudrun and GeraldoGudrunoGudrun is born in poverty,but she dares to set foot in upper-class society and win the higher class peoples acceptance and respect by her own wisdom and talents of art.She cares very little for fame and gai

14、l.Love Line Gudrun and GeraldoUrsula and Gudrun Brangwen are two sisters living in the Midlands of England in the 1910s.Ursula is a teacher,Gudrun an artist.They meet two men who live nearby,school inspector Rupert Birkin and coal-mine heir Gerald Crich.The four become friends.Ursula and Birkin beco

15、me involved,and Gudrun eventually begins a love affair with Gerald.Now,I will share the love affair between Gudrun and Gerald in details with you.Love Line Gudrun and Geraldo At a party at Geralds estate,Geralds sister Diana drowns by accident.Afterwards,Gudrun becomes the teacher and mentor of his

16、youngest sister.Soon Geralds coal-mine-owning father dies as well,after a long illness.After the funeral,Gerald feel very lonely and goes to Gudruns house and spends the night with her,while her parents are asleep in another room.Then,they begin their love affair and want to get along with each othe

17、r further.Therefore,during a holiday,they date to travel in the Alps.Love Line Gudrun and GeraldoGerald and Gudruns relationship,however,becomes stormy.The four holiday in the Alps.Gudrun begins an intense friendship with Loerke,a physically puny but emotionally commanding artist from Dresden.Gerald

18、,enraged by Loerke and most of all by Gudruns verbal abuse and rejection of his manhood,and driven by the internal violence of his own self,tries to strangle Gudrun.Before he has killed her,however,he realizes that this is not what he wants,and he leaves Gudrun and Loerke and climbs the mountain,eve

19、ntually slipping into a snowy valley where he falls asleep and freezes to death.Analysis of the love affairoAs we know,Gudrun and Geralds love story ended as a tragedy and it is doomed to be this ending.Machine civilization and its cold system must lead to humans coldness and void in spirits and the

20、 sham and exhaustion in affection.Gerald was driven by lust and begin to be attracted by Gudrun,however,when the lust is gone,his love for Gudrun is gone too.In addition,as the representative of a modern lady,Gudrun,who is independent,experienced,ambitious,disdains vanity and looks forward to freedo
