2、alk about my teaching ideas. Today my topic is “An old man tried to move the mountains?5 My presentation consists of the following aspects.I. Analysis of teaching materialsThis lesson is chosen from the section A of unit 6, PEP English book for Junior English. The topic of this lesson is legend and

3、stories. After learning this lesson, students will know some new words, phrases and sentence structures and they will be familiar with this topic.II. Analysis of studentsStudents of this stage have learned English for several years and they have a basic knowledge about language. However, some of the

4、m are tired of learning English and can not speak English fluently. So in my class, I will give them more chances to practice English and get them involved in my class.III. Analysis of teaching aimsAccording to the English curriculum standard, teaching material and students, I set the following teac

5、hing aims:(1) Knowledge aims: Students can recognize and understand some words and phrases such as “shoot, “once upon a time”, “so.that.“tone”, and “instead and master the following sentence structures:(2) How does the story begin?(3) What happened next?(4) What do you think of the story of Yu Gong?

6、(5) What could Yu Gong do instead of moving the mountains? Students can understand the main idea of listening material about Yu Gong. Students will have a grasp of some Chinese traditional stories and get familiar with this topic.(2)Ability aims: Students will be able to ask others how a story start

7、s, develops and ends and can put forward their views on its character and plot by using some conjunctions such as “unless，“as soon as” and so. .that”. Students5 listening and speaking abilities will be improved through different tasks.(3)Emotional aims: Students wont be afraid of difficulties and th

8、e spirit that one never gives up will be developed. Through this class, students critical thinking will be trained by posing different questions.IV. As for the learning method, I will use cooperative and independent learning method to let my students focus on my class and enhance their creative thinking abilities.VI. Analysis of teachin

13、g proceduresStep 1 Warm-up and Lead-inFirstly, I will greet my students as usual and ask them what they were doing at 8:00 to review the knowledge. After that I let students watch a video about King Yu Controlling the Flood and answer the following questions: What, s the name of the story? Do you kn

14、ow other Chinese traditional stories? During this section I will tell them Da Yu was a hero in the ancient times. His story shows that he wholeheartedly aimed at the welfare of the whole people. By this way, the legend- King Yu Controlling the Flood-will greatly arouse students，interest in learning

15、the new class and make preparation for the next step.Step 2 Pre-listeningThere are three activities in this section: IL 11 ask my students to look at the pictures in la and read the names of the story in the box. Students discuss with their partners and match the names of the story with the pictures

Journey to the West b Yu Gong Moves a Mountain d Hou Yi shoots the Suns a Nu Wa Repairs the Sky c In this section more Chinese traditional stories will be presented, which will broaden students, horizon of Chinese culture.Step 3 While-listeningFirst I will tell students they will hear a great Chin

17、ese traditional story and play the tape for the first time to guess the name of the story. Then I will play the recording again, let students check the facts they hear. The two mountains are very high and big. A very old man tried to move the mountains. A man told Yu Gong that he could never do it.

18、In the third listening, students are required to check the answers and read after the tape. Three-time listening will help them understand the meaning of this listening material comprehensively and practice their listening skills.Step 4 Post-listeningI will let students read the questions in box in

19、1c and discuss the questions with their partners and invite some groups to share their performance. After that some groups will be invited to perform the story in front of the class. They conversations is like this: Eg, A: How does the story begin? B: There were two very big mountains in front of th

20、eir house. A: What happened next? B: A very old man tried to move the mountains. A: Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains? B: They would put them into the sea. Next I will design a more interesting activity for them. I will ask them to make a movie according to the plot and

21、 characters of the story. At last I will hold a discussion among them. Students will be divided in groups of four and answer the following questions: g.What do you think of Yu Gong? h.Do you think it is a good way for Yu Gong to solve the problem by moving the mountains? i.What would he do instead o

22、f moving a mountain? The cooperation among students will help them overcome the difficulties in learning English and their critical thinking will be motivated in this section.Step 5 Summary and homeworkThe brief summary of class is the necessary procedure of classroom teaching, and its also the impo

23、rtant procedure of students effective learning. Thus in todays class, ril invite one of the students to review what we have learned and others make a supplement together.After class I will ask students to retell this story to their parents and choose one story they like and write it down. In this section students can comprehend what we have learned in todays class.VII.
