3、dednottokeepit.In1716hegaveittoPetertheGreat.In return,theCzarsenthimatroopofhisbestsoldiers.SotheAmberRoombecamepartoftheCzarswinterpalaceinStPetersburg.Aboutfourmetreslong,theroomservedasasmallreceptionhallforimportantvisitors.Later,CatherineIIhadtheAmberRoommovedtoapalaceoutsideStPetersburgwheres
4、hespenthersummers.Shetoldherartiststoaddmoredetailstoit.In1770theroomwascompletedthewayshewanted.Almostsixhundredcandleslittheroom,anditsmirrorsandpicturesshonelikegold.Sadly,althoughtheAmberRoomwasconsideredoneofthewondersoftheworld,itisnowmissing.InSeptember1941,theNaziarmywasnearStPetersburg.This
5、wasatimewhenthetwocountrieswereat war.BeforetheNaziscouldgettothesummerpalace,theRussianswereabletoremovesomefurnitureandsmallartobjectsfromtheAmberRoom.However,someoftheNazissecretlystoletheroomitself.Inless thantwodays100,000pieceswereputinsidetwenty-sevenwoodenboxes.Thereisnodoubtthattheboxeswere
