8、ylor was an American actor who was born in 1911 and died in 1969. He made his first film appearance in 1934. Early in his career, he was known as he man with the perfect profile”. One of his first major films was Camille (1936), playing opposite Greta Garbo. Strikingly handsome with wavy black hair
9、and blue eyes he was an instant heart-throb from his first film appearance. In later life, he made many television appearances, notably in the 1959 series, The Detectives Starring Robert Taylor.2. Winston Churchill (1874-1965) was bom on 30th November, 1874. He was educated at Harrow and Sandhurst.
10、After a brief but eventful career in the army, he became a Conservative Member of Parliament in 1900. He held many high posts in Liberal and Conservative governments during the first three decades of the 20th century. At the outbreak of the Second World War, he was appointed First Lord of the Admira

17、d like to make something clear. The man isnt my friend, well, not really.W: You mean you dont like him?M: No. Thats not quite it. Ive never met him.W: How do you know him then?M: My family members always told me how great he was. It really made me angry at times. But I guess it was kind of good for
18、me too, because it caused me to work harder and harder.W: Im excited to hear more! Lets bring him out here and learn what he has to say!Q. 1 What information can we get from the dialogue?For Reference:From the prologue to this interview, we know that the two friends did not know each other, or, to b
19、e more exact, they had never met one another yet. But they indeed had been friends with each other, because their family members always told how great the other one was. That really made both of them angry at times, but meanwhile they felt it was kind of good for them. From what the interviewee said
20、 as well as from the title of the text, we can easily guess that their anger resulted from the other ones challenge, which in turn pushed them on. But, how did all this get into effect? Now lets come to the next question.Q. 2 How did two unknown friends form such a challenge to each other then?For R
21、eference:For such a challenge to go into effect, there must be some contributors. First, there must be a person, like family members as stated in the interview, who made vivid comparisons between both, so as to keep them informed of how great the other one was. Second, there must be some similaritie
22、s between them two. For example, they may be of the same age, from the same family background, or in the same field of study. And above all, both must be willing to answer the challenge from the other one, although they may get angry at the mention of the other one from time to time.Q. 3 What would
