1、“公司简介”的翻译基本内容l企业的历史(history)l发展现状和成就l公司信息(corporate information)l行政管理状况(executives and management)l前景,企业文化和价值观(value,ethics,culture,vision and philosophy)l公司治理，(corporate governance)l产品服务范围(products and services)l企业领导人致词(presidents message)功能l一是提供公司信息l二是宣传公司，引起注意，呼吁合作。语言特点l一份企业简介,除概要性地介绍企业的情况外,对其产品也

2、作了简略的宣传。从文体上看,企业简介是说明书的一种,属于外贸应用文文体;从语篇类型上看,它属于“信息 鼓动类”语篇,起着宣传介绍的功能。预期译文功能是在译语语境中使译文读者对该公司及其所生产的产品留下深刻印象,最终达到促其购买产品的目的。所以,企业简介不同于一般的说明书,具有自己的语言特点:l1、选词富有鼓动性原文:拥有雄厚的技术力量.译文:Boasting tremendous technological strength原文:该厂最近又开发出真珠牙膏系列产品,受到消费者的青睐。译文:The Pearl King,the latest achievement of NPC,is very w

7、,一个短句接一个短句,流泻铺排,形散神聚,呈典型的流散形句式,然而英语讲求结构的完整和严密。在企业简介英译中普遍采用的手段有:(1)以“with”引导的介词短语;(2)分词;(3)从句。(1)以“with”引导的介词短语:例:彩虹集团公司:下属20 多家公司,总资产达8 个亿人民币.译文:There are altogether 20 sub-companies under it with a total asset of 8.7 billion RMByuan.(2)现在分词和过去分词 例:珠海迪蒙贸易有限公司是经珠海市外经委批准成立的具有进出口经营权的法人企业。译文:Approved by

8、 the council of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of Zhuhai;ZHUHAIDEMEN TRADIND Co.LTD is a foreign trade enterprises,possessing the state of legal body.例:公司环境优美,设备先进。拥有中国第一条年产三十吨核酸花粉合剂的现代化生产线。译文:.the corporation is equipped with advanced facilities,amongwhich is Chinas firstmodern production lin

14、ety of light industrial and textile products have increased.拟改译:Light industry and textile products are now available in better designs and richer variety.原译的词类完全按照中文,主语冗长,有头重脚轻之嫌,是典型的Chinglish。而改译先以一主谓结构统领,再补充其他成分,并且对“轻纺工业产品”在词性上做了变动,使译文更符合 英语语言的习惯2.逐字翻译引起的表达繁冗、拖沓 例2 为了实现信息化数据化,原译:In order to achie

15、ve the goal of being fully equipped with information and data,改译:In order to achieve informationization and datumization,原译严格根据原文翻译,在表达上比较繁琐,而informationization 和datumization 具有modernization 类似的构词方法,在表意上更加简洁。(二)脱离原文引起的翻译不当1.误译(mistranslation)误译的现象很普遍,原因主要归结于译者的疏忽大意,英文功底及文化认识的欠缺。在公司简介中,引起误译的原因则主要是译者英

16、文功底不扎实,并且为图方便以主观臆测代替客观求证。例3 我公司专门生产腰包。原译:Our company is specialized in producing body bags.拟改译:Our company is specialized in producing wallets/purses.Body bag 在英语中意为“遗体袋”,而不是我们所认为的与身体(body)有关的包。类似的误译在许多公司简介中很常见,从而使翻译达不到正确传递信息的目的。2.欠额翻译(undertranslation)欠额翻译也叫“过载翻译”(overloaded translation),它是“译者无视译文的

17、理解性与可读性,或过高地估计了译语读者的知识,以致于译文读者在译语中得不到理解原文所必需的信。例如对“拳头产品”一词的译法,欠额翻译fist product 给读者的理解度不够,而(highly)competitive product 虽然未能做到原汁原味,但至少在表意上达到了传达信息的目的,显得更为可取。当然,knockout product 形神俱备,最为妥帖。(三)文化差异导致的拙译 1.缺乏准确的文化认识而导致的拙译 例4 投资热点 原译:investment hot spot 拟改译:a region attractive to investors 原译对“热点”逐字翻译,其实际意义

18、为“(可能)发生动乱的地方”(至少以这一意思为主)。另一种译法investment heat spot 也不妥当,因为heat spot 是医学上的“热觉点”。改译采用了解释性翻译,表意清楚,同时又体现了热点的“热”字真正的含义在于具有attractive 的特性,并且避免了字面翻译引起的错误。例5 本公司对所有产品实行三包。原译:Our company provides three packages for all the products.拟改译:Our company provides three guarantees for all the products in terms of r

19、epair,replacement and refund.一般中国人都知道“三包”指的是产品售后服务的保证,所以这个“包”其实是“保”。针对不了解行情的外国企业,翻译的关键不仅在于准确传递这个“包”字的含义,更在于说明“三包”的具体内容2.文化的不可译性(cultural untranslatability)每种文化都有它的独特性,这就导致在翻译中会出现文化的不可译性。中国的白象牌电池功效相当不错,但其英译white elephant(意为大而无用的东西)使之在美国市场上的销售情况不景气。译者在翻译的过程中必须考虑这种文化的独特性。(四)语法错误l语法错误不是翻译中独有的问题,却不可小视。公司
