21、were over 140 metres in length,Between 1405 and 1433,on behalf of the Ming Dynasty,Zheng He made a total of seven voyages.and the fleet paid friendly visits to more than 30 countries and regions.ApplicationColumbus was born in a port city of Italy in 1451.On 3 August 1492,he departed from Spain with

22、 three ships carrying about 90 crewmen.Finally,on 12 October,the crew spotted land in the distance.Between 1493 and 1504,Columbus found more land over the course of his three subsequent voyages.ApplicationVasco da Gama,a Portuguese navigator,was one of the leading figures in the history of sea explo

23、ration.His greatest contribution was the discovery of the sea route linking Europe and Asia,which gave a huge boost to the economy of his country.This route was important because of the spice trade,which was driving Europes economy at the time.By discovering the spice trade route,da Gama ensured his
