1、Lesson Plan: Reading and Speaking.The analysis of teaching :The teaching material is from Book 6, Module 6, Reading Practice: Winston ChurchilT s Speeches. This period should focus on the student s ability to read and understand the passage, more importantly let the students know Winston ChurchilT s

2、 famous lines and try to get inspired from the. Guidance should be offered to help the student improve their ability to skim and scan. The students should first get the general meaning of the text after the skimming, and be able to find some specific facts of the text after the scanning. While readi

3、ng part, students should grasp ChurchilT s famous line and learn to appreciate them. Students should try to expression their own idea about the meaning of the line. Post reading part, student should know some knowledge about Winston Churchill. Discussion and speaking part, students should be able to

4、 talk about other famous people s famous lines which give them the most impression, and how those lines inspired them.二 , Teaching goals:Knowledge and Skills:1. To help students learn some new words and expressions in this period.Ari force, army, Britain, defeat, Germany, leadership, navy, politicia

5、n, prime minister, speech, statesman, the Second World War, victoryTo help the students master the reading skills: skimming and scanning.2. Enable students to try to have a free talk with others, and try to do the public sharing.Process and Methods:1. To encourage the students to take an active part

6、 in the leaning activities by giving them clear instructions on what to do while reading a new passage. In addition, correct possible mistakes they might make in a proper way by making necessary changes while repeating their sentences when they are sharing.2. To encourage the students to be brave en

7、ough to speak in public, and share their ideas.3. To make sure that the students pay attention to important points by asking them to repeat some of the statements made by Churchill.4. To encourage students to try to appreciate ChurchilT s famous lines.Emotional Attitude and Value:1. To encourage the

8、 students to find out the famous lines in the text and learn to appreciate them, share with others what inspiration they can get from those lines.2. To enable students know some basic knowledge about Winston Churchill.3. To help the students to be brave enough to speak English and share their ideas.

Teaching Procedures:Step 1: Pre-reading:Warming up and greetings.A guessing game-picture showing and ask the students who the famous person is, and then show them a brief introduction about Winston Churchill.Step 2: While-readingText structure: Ask t

12、he students read fast, try to use the skimming and scanning skill. Then try to divide the passage into three parts.1. Read the passage again and answer the questions: The topic sentence of the passage isThe conclusion passage of the passage is Try to find Winston ChurchilT s famous speeches and thei

13、r background.2. Read paragraph 2-6, and fill in the blanks, pay attention to the background of the famous lines.3. Share your understandings of the famous lines.Step 3: Post-reading:Make a conclusion about who was Winston Churchill? What did he do? What was he famous for?Step 4: Discussion and Speak

14、ing:There are other examples of great speeches which have inspired people, choose one and talk about your understanding about it. You may combine your own experience.Step 5: Appreciate ChurchilP s other famous quotations.After reading those famous lines, try to ask several students to share their favorite ones and the reasons why they love the lines.Step 6: HomeworkChoose one or two of ChurchilT s famous lines, and write down your understanding.
