1、Purdue University Krannert School of Management Dean hand-picked team of 45 elite students, making third Study Abroad Program to National Chengchi UniversityA group of foreign visitors recently showed up in the tranquil foot of Mt. Chih-nan. They are the 45 students sent out by the worlds No.11th, P

2、urdue Universitys business school, of which half of them are elite students from the Management Honors Program. The group arrived at CNCCU on Mar. 14 for an eight-day Asian management study trip. The first such study abroad program at CNCCU conducted three years ago was highly effective, and receive

3、d praise from Richard A. Cosier, the Dean of Purdue Universitys business school. NCCU, being the primary choice for conducting study abroad program in the last three consecutive years, exemplifies world top universities interest in the Asia environment and Taiwans enterprises, which also implicates

4、recognition of Taiwans business education excellence. , This years Purdue student study abroad group is led by the Associate Dean of its business school, Dr. Kwei Tang. A total of 45 business undergraduate students came to visit, with over half of them are freshmen, and 25 are Management Honor stude

5、nts. Only those with 3.7 GPA (out of 4.0), or SAT score of 1870 and above (out of 2400) may be eligible to apply for the program, followed by a strict selection process. Since Purdue is an international renowned university, the visiting group is comprised of students from including mainland China an

6、d the Middle East, a very diverse student body.In the five-day courses, CNCCU, for the first time, arranged a Mandarin course in the first day, to provide students an opportunity to learn the basic daily conversations that can be applied during the trip. As for specialized courses, IMBAs outstanding

7、 faculty team has designed a rich curriculum tailored for the students, including the current popular topics ranging from Cross Border Strategic Alliances, Development of ICT Industry in Asia Post-Financial Crisis,” to cross-strait issues. In addition, in the cultural aspect, former Executive Planni

8、ng Officer of Epson Taiwan, Mark Chiu, acclaimed as the IT industry expert and at the same time, the visiting professor at NCCUs Culture and Creative Industry Program, will be sharing his views with the foreign students in the course, “Chinese Philosophy and Strategy Behavior.” Aside from classroom

9、instruction, field trip to Hsinchu Science Park has also been arranged for students to personally experience and develop a deeper insight into Taiwans IT industry. Different from exchange programs, where periods are longer and spending are considerably higher, more and more students option for field

10、 studies to experience cross-cultural learning. In the trend of globalization, study abroad has risen in popularity. Three years ago, National Chengchi University was Taiwans first to establish such collaboration with Purdue University for field studies, creating a new paradigm in international acad

11、emic exchanges. Collaborations started out with one university, now growing to a total of four universities this year. With an accumulation of experience, study abroad teaching methods have become increasingly diversified. Apart from a long-term stable partnership with Purdue University, CNCCU curre

12、ntly also has a bilateral study program in place with University of Innsbruck, Austria, and a tailored curriculum for students from Universita Commercale L. Bocconi, Italy. Furthermore, students from Universidad Tecnologica Centroamericana, Honduras, will also be visiting in June this year. Comparin
