3、od base for their life-long learning.Introduction to teaching content The teaching content is A Night Of The Earth Didnt Sleep,which tells about the great earthquake that occurred in Tangshan City,Hebei Province,in the early morning of July 28,1976.The structure of the full text is clear.According t
4、o the signs before the earthquake,the damage during the earthquake and the rescue after the earthquake,the article is divided into three main parts.The first part mainly tells about some abnormal natural phenomena happened in Tangshan before the earthquake,such as chickens,dogs and mice running out
5、of the fields,fish jumping out of the pond and strong light in the sky.The second part mainly describes the damage caused by the earthquake to Tangshan.In only 15 seconds,almost the whole Tangshan was razed as if the end of the world was coming.The third part mainly talks about with the assistance o
6、f the PLA and the help and support of the people all over the country,the Tangshan disaster area began to recover.This lesson has vivid language and clear structure,which is helpful for students to summarize.The content is about earthquakes,and it is the most common natural disaster in recent years.
7、So it can stimulate students interest in reading.In emotional teaching,through the study of this lesson,it can help students understand the knowledge of earthquake self-rescue,and guide students to establish the value of when disaster struck,help came from all sides and to extend a helping hand to p

9、nderstanding and experience of Tangshan Earthquake.However,because of the lack of vocabulary and expression,students are still unable to use English well to express the content of earthquake disaster.The subjects of this course are senior one students of Yizhou Valley High School,whose English is po
10、or,especially less vocabulary and reading habits,which leads to slow reading speed and poor reading comprehension.Compared with traditional teaching,knowledge and interesting teaching activities can arouse their interest in English.Therefore,this lesson uses some videos and pictures to stimulate stu
