6、ats,acaf,andpremisesfortheorganisationofeducational,art-relatedactivities.5THFLOORPLAN6THFLOORPLANBREAD PPT DESIGNThenewhalloperating,asastudiotheatre,conferenceroom,concerthall,andvenueforbanquetsandexhibitionsholdsretractablestagesfor300people.State-of-the-artstagetechnologyispresentoverhead:fixed

7、onhoistsandcranestothesteelceilinggirders.Thisallowsdramasandconcertstobeperformed,andexhibitions,filmscreenings,symposiums,conferences,artauctions,fashionshows,andmanymoreeventstobeheld.BREAD PPT DESIGNArchitectKrzysztofIngarden(collaboratingwithJacekEw),claimsthattheformofthebuildingisacontextualg

8、amebetween“mimesisandtheabstraction”.Inpractice,thismeansthatthebuildingisbynomeansasimulacrumofthecontext,butratherdrawsinspirationfromthecodeofcontextualformsbymakingreferencestothegeometryoftheroofsandtissueoftheneighbouringstructuresappliedfortheabstractgeometricalcompositionsofthefaades.Thebuil

9、dingfitsthescaleofitsenvironmentperfectlybymaintainingthelinesoftheroofanddivisionsofthefaadesinlinewiththecompositionandlinearsolutionsoftheneighbouringbuildings.BREAD PPT DESIGNHoningtheform,thearchitectsfocusedoninteractionwiththefuturerecipients,whichiswhytheentirespatialformofthesymbolic,openwo

10、rkroofingraisedoverthegardenfromthesideofRajskaStreetthoughnotfunctioningasanactualroofistheretotransportthegatewaytothestageoutontothestreet.Inthisway,thebuildingdelicatelynudgespassers-bywiththeskilfulmanipulationoftheform,alreadyatfirstglancegivingtheonlookertheimpressionofgoingbeyondthebordersof

11、agarden,wherecultureisgrowninevenlyplantedrows.BREAD PPT DESIGNFurtherproofofthesophisticatedplaywiththespaceisthegardenitself.Imitatingflowerbeds,theequalbandswithlowgreensareametaphorofagarden:asmuchasthearchitectscouldaffordhere.Anotablefactisthathistorically“ulicaRajska”literally“ParadiseStreet”

12、ledtotheGardenofParadise,whichwaslaterreplacedbythedevelopmentsoftheTobaccoWorks.BREAD PPT DESIGNThefinalimpactistheresultofthedesignerssensitivitytosignalscomingfromtheenvironment.Forexample,theopeningintheperforatedroofofthegardenwasformed,especiallyforthemapletreethatgrowsthere.Inrecognitionofits

13、exquisitesenseofspatialcompositionandcreativeforminhistoricalcontext,thebuildingwasawardedwiththeProfessorJanuszBogdanowskiPrize,forthebestarchitecturalachievementinKrakowintheyear2012.Inthisplace,theculturallifeoftheKrakwsyoungartisticsetwillblossomunderasharedroof.Modernballet,contemporarytheatref

14、orms,audioandvideoarts,concerts,andallandanyotherartisticpursuitswillfindtheirhomehere.Togetherwiththetechnicalfurnishingofthestage,theconstructionprojectconsumedapproximatelyPLN47million,andwasco-financedfromEUfundsasapartoftheMaopolskaRegionalOperationalProgramme20072013.BREAD PPT DESIGNBREAD PPT

15、DESIGNWYSPIASKI 2000 PAVILIONRaisedin2007,thebuildingfillsthegapinthetissueofKrakwscitycentrethatemergedafterthedemolitionofthebuildingPodLipkin1939.StandingonthecornerofGrodzkaStreetandWszystkichwitych(AllSaints)Square,situatedbytheRoyalRoutebetweentheMainMarketSquareandWawelCastle,surroundedwithhi

16、storicalarchitecturedatingbackasfarasGothic.BREAD PPT DESIGNBREAD PPT DESIGNThetwomainfunctionsofthebuilding,namely,toprovideinformationandtodisplaythestained-glasswindows,requireddistinctiveinteriorspaces.Thematerialusedestablishesadialoguewiththeneighbouringbuildings.Usedfortheexternalwall,brickso

17、fspecialform,trapezoidalincross-section,werearrangedvertically.Suchadeploymentprovidedadistinctiveexternalmovablecurtain:anexternalsystemofshutters.Thisnewformofaceramiccurtain,adjustedtothefunctionalandlightingneedsofinteriorishighlycontemporaryinitsexpression,yetremainsconsistentwiththehistoryoftheplace.In2009,thebuildingwontheawardsoftheAssociationofPolishArchitects(SARP),ArchitectsChamber,andtheMayoroftheCityofKrakwforthebestbuildingbuiltinKrakwinthelast20yearsBREAD PPT DESIGNTheend
