1、An Analysis of Character in Jane Eyre I have read a book called Jane Eyre many times and I like it very much.I think Jane Eyre is a realistic novel with some romantic factors.It is written in a form of protagonists narrative.Using a lot of monologue is an outstanding characteristic of the novel.The

2、novel is exquisite and the plot is choppy,which give us a macabre atmosphere.The author described protagonists pure love and the natural scenery in a very ingenious way,which made the novel beautiful,moving and mysterious.The novel criticizes the vision of love on the basis of wealth,and it describe

3、s the love between Jane and Rochester as the tacit agreement at all aspects.It speaks highly of the struggle for freedom equality and happiness from the lower class,which is rare and deserves praise.1.Introduction Jane Eyre is written by Charlotte Bronte who is the famous English novelist.It success

4、fully creates Janes vivid image.Charlotte Bronte is the author of Jane Eyre,who was born in a priests family in England in 1816.Because of losing her mother and her fathers poor income,she was sent to a boarding school founded by charity,where the living conditions were as bad as teachers attitude.C

5、harlottes childhood was very poor,but this also gave her some inspirations.Due to poverty,young Charlotte began writing novels with her two other sisters.Thanks to their abundant and special experience,their creative enthusiasm burst out.Like magic,three masterpieces come to the world culture histor

6、y in the same year in the same family.They are Charlottes Jane Eyre,Emily Wuthering Heights and Annies Edgar nice graham.And the sisters were famous as“The Family Bronte.In this story,She describes a woman seeking economic independence and struggling for love and equality.At first,the paper gives an

7、 introduction of the author Charlotte Bronte,the background,the role and influence of Jane Eyre.Second,it describes Janes pursuit of love,her confidence,decisiveness,and her persistence in self-selection.Then it compares Jane,a model,a breakthrough in that time,with modern women and arrive at the co

8、nclusion that the feminist movement today is the continuation and development of that time.The book was written in 1846 and its the second novel of Charlotte Bronte.It was first published in autumn,1847.Although the story is fictional,the life of the heroine and other people are based on the author

9、or other peoples real life.It is said that,the book made a hit in the literary world when it first came into being.Although more than 100 famous scholars recommended this book together,many people love it very much.When the novel begins,Jane is an isolated,powerless ten-year-old living with an aunt

10、and cousins who dislike her.As the novel progresses,she grows in strength.She distinguishes herself at Lowood School because of her hard work and strong intellectual abilities.As a governess,she learns of the pleasures and pains of love through her relationship with Edward Rochester.After being dece

11、ived by him,she goes to Marsh End,where she regains her spiritual focus and discovers her own strength when she rejects St.John Rivers marriage proposal.She left Mr Rochester when he was rich and health but came back even though he was bland and disabled.I think that is true love.By novels end she h

12、as become a powerful,independent woman,blissfully married to the man she loves,Rochester.2An Analysis of Character in Jane Eyre Jane was a reflective woman,who lived in the poverty and went through all kinds of difficulties.Her life was sympathetic but her strong mind to pursue equality and happines

13、s was prized.Jane thought that love could only survive on the basis of spiritual equality not social status,money and appearance.In her view,only loves each other can couple obtains happiness.In her way to pursue love,she did not give up her love to Rochester because she was his servant.She loved Ro

14、chester because he could treat people equally and treat her like a friend.Jane represents women who fight for equality and freedom from the lower class.Eyre is a poor but aspiring,small in body but huge in soul,obscure but self-respecting girl.After we close the covers of the book,after having a lon

15、g journey of the spirit,Jane Eyre,a marvelous figure,has left us so much to recall and to think:We remember her goodness:for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes,for someone who despised her for her ordinariness,and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.She lost her parents when

16、she was still an infant.After spending a painful time at her aunts house and a school whose rules were too rigid for a child,she became a governess and felt in love with her bossMr.Rochester.However,she was not able to marry him for he already had a wife,who was a bulky and crazy.The desperate Jane

17、left him and accidentally found her cousins and inherited her uncles legacy.She shared the money with her cousins.When she found out her love,Mr.Rochester was blind she decisively went back to him.Wealth could never affect peace of her mind.She was not overwhelmed by the joy of getting a large amoun

18、t of money from his uncle.She generously shared it with her cousins.When Rochester was blind and lost his big house Jane immediately came to his help and comforted him.Her love was generous and pure,like the spring sun reviving the desert in Rochesters heart.Money is just an additional bonus of life

19、.It is a tool,a means but never the main tune of life.Only love can be the reason of life.Only love can heal the broken hearts and carry the desperate ones through the gloomy days.Jane has spent most of her childhood in Gateshead,no other than this special experience shaped her personality of brave

20、and strong to challenge her new life.At Lowood,she was both excited and nervous about the new place she had see and the new people she had met.Life at Lowood wasnt good at the beginning.People there must believed in hard work,plain food,simple clothes and no luxury of any kind.So most of them were o

21、ffish except Miss Temple,the headmistress of Lowood School.Jane has made a friend here,the first really friendHelen Burns.The girl was smart and kind-hearted but was hated by her teacher Miss Scatcherd and always be punished because of her“untidy and careless.Jane was so angry about that,on the cont

22、rary,Helen told her:“Life is too short to continue hating anyone for a long time.We all have faults,but the time will come soon when we die when our wickedness will pass away with our bodies,leaving only the pure flame of the spirit.Thats why I never think of revenge,I never consider life unfair.I l

23、ive in calm,looking forward to the end.That is true,her life was too short!When Jane felt she was accepted,learned to like school and set to work to learn as much as she could,make as many friends as possible,Helens illness was much more serious than Jane first thought,she had got a tuber.One mornin

24、g Miss Temple found Jane asleep with Helen Burns dead in her arms.Helen have a great effect on Jane,she taught Jane how to learn to love,forgive and do as the Bible tells:“Sometimes you have to put up with some hard things in life even if other people hurt us.In this novel,Jane Eyre is depicted as a

25、 woman rebelling against convention.This can be clearly seen in her relationship with Edward Rochester.When she finds that she has fallen in love with Edward,a man at her fathers age,she bravely expresses her love rather than cowers back,not letting age become the barrier of love.When she receives h

26、er masters love,she refuses those easily-obtained fortune or wealth but insists on being a governess all the same and earning her own living,holding the belief that a woman should be independent in a family.Although in this novel,Charlotte does successfully create such an unconventional woman,the un

27、conventionality is not thorough,because the submissive aspects in Janes character can still be seen.Jane Eyre shaped an image of a woman who didnt yield to mundane pressure,was independence and positive.Jane Eyre has been as an independent womens classic,I hope the sun,flowers,there are more to come

28、 out of Jane Eyre,whether poor or rich;regardless of beauty or looks mediocre,have a good mind and enrich the mind,can an independent personality and a strong personality life.Jane is certainly a classic model of brilliant woman in the Victorian Era.I gain much courage from her as she struggled with

29、 her fate all the time.She had never surrendered to bad circumstances and always sought for true love and independence.I think the most moving scene in the story is when the secret was revealed and Jane decided to leave Rochester.What a strong determination did she have that she abandoned all she ha

30、d including her true love to maintain her principles!She sticks to the belief that beauty is indispensable in forming a perfect lady.Being a plain-looking girl,Jane has a strong inferiority complex about her look,even when she becomes a well-educated lady.When living in her aunts family,she attribut

31、es her dislike by the family partly to her plain appearance.She mentions that if she was handsome,her aunt would endure her presence more complacently;her cousins would entertain for her more of the cordiality of fellow-feeling;the servants would be less prone to make her the scapegoat of the nurser

32、y.When being a governess in Thornfield and seeing Miss Ingram,she feels incompetence to win Edwards love against such a beautiful lady at first sight.Then in the party,she carefully observes Miss Ingram and Edward,and in her mind strongly expresses the feeling that they dont truly love each other an

33、d Miss Ingram doesnt suit Edward in personality.As to this point,it shows Janes jealousy about Miss Ingrams beauty.She seems to declare that if she has beauty,she can no doubt win Edwards love.And this can be further proved in her later declaration of love to Edward.She says that:if God had gifted m

34、e with some beauty and much wealth,I should have made it as hard for you to leave me,as it is now for me to leave you.In addition,she gives in to the traditional emphasis on womens chastity.On the wedding day of Jane and Edward,Jane surprisingly knew that Edward had a living wife.Though she witnesse

35、d the insanity of his wife and realized the hard life that Edward lived with such a mad woman,she refused to marry him in that situation.Regardless of Edwards confess and entreaty,Jane left him.If Jane was thoroughly unconventional,she could accept Edwards love and became a mistress and then lived a

36、 carefree life with her beloved Edward,but she didnt do this.She couldnt accept being a mistress.As a woman,she regarded legal marriage status the precondition in the combination of a man and a woman.In this story,God always appears when Jane cant make her decision,and each time she chooses to follo

37、w the Gods direction.When Jane is deep in dilemma whether to stay or leave after the cancellation of the wedding ceremony,it is the Gods voice that ultimately leads her leaving Edward.Later in the moor house,she submits herself to St.John,a devotional God admirer,doing many harsh tasks and trying he

38、r best to meet his requirements,though these are not favorable to her.After St.John proposes to Jane several times,Jane is bewildered.She cant decide whether to live in England to keep her love for Edward or follow St.John to a far-away place to do divine missions.At this time,she asks a favor from

39、God.If she didnt hear Edwards call,most probably she would follow St.John to fulfill Gods mission as long as life endures if God directs her to do so.In her love,we can also know about her.In the novel,Jane Eyres love story with Rochester,vividly demonstrated that the fire-like enthusiasm and absolu

40、te sincerity heart,which represented revealing her concept of love.She boldly loved what she really loved.But when she discovered that his love had had his wife,she decided to leave the nostalgia of the man and the place.At the fictional end of the novel,it said that Jane Eyre received a heritage an

41、d returned to the lonely and helpless Rochester.It shows the authors idealswomens independence and equality in the economic,social and family and to the loyal love.Jane was affected by Rochester because she loved him so much,because he saw what she was and appreciated and encouraged her.She was affe

42、cted by Rivers because she owed him her life,because he was one of her few relatives,because she was too depressed to resist his efforts and finally because he possessed a character that didnt explode with anger to help her channel her own against him.When Rochester offered Jane a love without marri

43、age,and John offered her a marriage without love,she gave up all them.Eventually she got the love with marriage,and she chose Rochester as her better half.3 My feeling of Jane Eyre The story impressed me deeply.I admire Jane very much.She stands for independent ladies.From her story I can feel a str

44、ong lady fight for equal and true love.Nowadays many people think money is the most important thing,but in order for self-respect she can throw away every thing.And she finally find her true love.Besides we can also learn from her firm in character and her seeking for knowledge.We should keep our so

45、ul pure and fight for our dreams.Every human being can find his reflection in Jane Eyre.She was not pretty,not brilliant,not wealthy and had no family.Similarly we were all born with some defects or other.In other words,we are all bound to face these imperfections of life and we all need the strengt

46、h to live with them.Sometimes we need some role models to warm our hearts and light our paths.Jane Eyre is one.However gloomy her days were she never lost her dignity nor did she give herself up.So when we lose hope or complain about the imperfections of life we can always get some guidance and reas

47、surance from Jane.Actually,she wasnt pretty,and of course,the ordinary appearance didnt make others feel good of her,even her own aunt felt disgusted with it.And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease,so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre,she seemed quite contemptuous,fo

48、r that she was obviously much more prettier than the plain and ugly governess.But as the little governess had said:Do you think,because I am poor,obscure,plain,and little,I am soulless and heartless?You think wrong!This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyres mind.God hadnt given her beauty and wealth

49、,but instead,God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain.Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.It succeeded in shaping the history of British literature,the first for love,life,society and religion,have adopted an independent and proacti

50、ve attitude and dare to struggle,dare to fight for freedom the equal status of women in the image.In my mind,like a Jane Eyre is full of wisdom,caring and strive to make your own life get the maximum advertised in Wizard.In my mind,though a persons beauty on the face can make others once feel that o
