6、t be reflected in the translation,so that it can inspire similar psychological illustrations or associations in the readers mind.The purpose of cultural exchange is achieved if the reader can think of the alternation of history and reality,the change of time and space,and the enlightenment given by
7、human life philosophy and common sense of life,thus understanding the relationship between national identity and human commonality.The value will be achieved.The principle of human communication in thought,especially in intercultural communication,is actually very similar to the principle of transla
8、tion.Human beings translate this world all the time.In other words,it is all the time to understand and grasp the world in its own way.A large part of peoples living activities are constituted by translation activities.Chinese English will inevitably reflect the Chinese way of thinking and the inter
9、pretation of nature and human society(translation).Chinese people are always translating and interpreting their own culture and society.There are different world outlooks between East and West and different understanding and cognition of the material and spiritual world,which are inevitably reflecte
10、d in the language exchange.1.Cross-cultural thinking in English-Chinese translation 1.1 Different ethnic groups have different means of expression.A word,a phrase or a sentence can have different interpretations for different peoples and even compatriots.Because of their unique history and geography
11、,different ethnic groups have different means and methods of expressing their language,which leads to different understandings.The development of language is directly attributed to the history of the nation.The national characteristics in history and culture will naturally be reflected in the langua
12、ge.The same word,which can be different or even opposite in the minds of people with different cultural backgrounds,has created the so-called hyper-language barrier for foreign language learners.1.2 Different cultures have different ways of thinking People in different cultures will have different w
13、ays of thinking,often from a different perspective of the problem,there will be different narrative.Such as Chinese used to go shopping(do not buy),English is go shopping(show window display)to express the same meaning.Another example is noodles and rice noodles.Chinas food culture has a long histor
14、y,focusing on its taste.For Chinese people,noodles and flour are two completely different kinds of food.Their taste and taste make completely different raw materials for their production.The powder,flour in the Anglo-American view,it is only made of rice or wheat flour bar food,should be cooked with

18、Thank You.What do tourists and service personnel do for foreigners,foreign guests say Thank you.How to answer?Someone would say:This is what I should do If you translate this sentence literally into Its my duty,it will contain the following meanings:Waiter or tour guide I do not want to do this,but
19、this is his(or her)responsibility,so had to do.This is very different from the original meaning to be expressed in Chinese.The appropriate answer is that it should be translated as Im glad to be of help.Or Its my pleasure.It means Im happy(for you).People often think that Please in Chinese is equiva
20、lent to English in Please.But in some occasions,it is not suitable to use English Please,for example,let others first when entering the door or on the train,do not say Please,generally say After you.(Beginner English people use You go first;this is wrong.)In the dinner table,please eat,eat or smoke
21、when smoking,the general use Help yourself(to something),do not need Please.Chinese in the hard is a very warm word,that others care.Sometimes it is hard to affirm others hard work and accomplishments and express their condolences.Take great care when expressing this meaning in English.Hard is a ver
22、y wide range of application of the phrase,while English does not fully correspond to the argument,translate it straight into Youve had a hard time.Or Youve gone through a lot of hardships.Are not appropriate,sometimes it can cause misunderstandings.You must have had a tiring journey.Or you must be t
23、ired from such a long.For foreigners who have just arrived in China after a long journey,Trip or Did you have a good trip?For those who are doing or have just completed a difficult task,you can say:Well done.That was(Youve got)a hard job.)3.The historical factors in cross-cultural translation 3.1 Cu
24、ltural vacancy in translation In the course of long-term historical evolution,China,Britain,the United States and other countries have formed different political systems,cultural environments and religious beliefs.In intercultural communication,they inevitably form a fault plane of cultural vacancy.
