1、巴黎圣母院读书报告巴黎圣母院读书笔记 :巴黎圣母院读书报告 On The Hunchback of Notre Dame Cai Hua,Class 2,2009,Foreign Languages School I.Introduction The Hunchback of Notre Dame is written by Victor Hugo.This book was profoundly affected by the historical and political trends of the early nineteenth century.Hugo put the charac
2、teristic of two revolutions into The Hunchback of Notre Dame,but was also inspired by the artistic and cultural representation of these social variations.Paris itself plays a major role in the novel.Hugo presents Paris as a place that can all be seen from the towers of Notre Dame,reaffirming its pla
3、ce as the center of Paris.On the surface,The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a story of unrequited love between a man horribly disfigured and a beautiful woman who loves someone else.But Hugo was a very plex writer who gave his readers a much more plicated story.Underneath the unfolding of Quasimodos lov
4、e of Esmeralda is a history set in 1482,a time that in many ways mirrored the times and political struggles of Hugos nineteenth century world.The novel also conveys a spiritual element not only in its setting but in its characters.There is a priest who has lost his spiritual path;there is a physical
5、ly disfigured man who is shunned and must find solace not in the material world but deep within himself,and a beautiful girl search for her free love._ 巴黎圣母院读书报告。II.The Story of the Book During the 1482 Festival of Fools in Paris,Quasimodo,the hunchback of Notre Dame,is elected the Pope of Fools for
6、 being the ugliest person in Paris.Artist Gringoire admires the graceful beauty of La Esmerelda,a gypsy street dancer,and decides to follow her home.After rounding a corner,she is suddenly attacked by Quasimodo.But he failed.The Kings Archers,led by Phoebus arrive in time.The next day,Quasimodo is p
7、ut on trial and is punished in the Place.He suffers both the pain of being stretched as well as being publicly humiliated by the crowd of people.He begs for water,but no one answers until Esmerelda es and brings him something to drink.A few months later,Esmerelda is dancing in front of Notre Dame an
8、d Phoebus calls her over to him.She has fallen in love with him and be happy when he asks her to meet him later that night.Frollo watches them from the top of Notre Dame and es insanely jealous of Phoebus.He thinks about a very evil idea.He tells lie to Frollo,and fellows him to the hotel.Then,he ki
9、lled Frollo,Esmerelda fall in a faint.He escapes and Esmerelda is captured by the Kings guard.The parliament deems that she is guilty and she should be hanged.Frollo visits her in prison and begs her to love him.She refuses him.Looking across the square,she suddenly sees Phoebus and calls out his na
10、me.He actually survived the murder attempt but doesnt want anyone to know that he was injured.He turns away and disappeared into his brides house.Just then,Quasimodo swings down on a rope from Notre Dame and carries her back to the cathedral.At first,she finds it hard to even look at Quasimodo,but t
11、hey form an uneasy friendship.Even though he is deaf,he enjoys being around her when she sings.Meanwhile,a group of vagabonds want to save Esmerelda.But when Quasimodo sees them attack the cathedral,he thinks they have e to kill Esmerelda and he fends them off as best he can,killing a large number o
12、f them.Frollo uses the attack as a diversion to let Esmerelda out of the cathedral.He offers her two choices:she can either say she loves him or be hanged.She again refused and he leaves her with Sister Gudule.To their astonishment,they are mother and daughter.Gudule tries to protect Esmerelda,but i
13、t is too late.Quasimodo finally finds Esmerelda was hanged.He throws Frollo down to death.Quasimodo cries out:There is everything I ever loved!Quasimodo is never seen again.Years later,they find two strange skeleton.III.My Views on the Book After reading The hunchback of Notre Dame,I had much grief
14、at the people in it._巴黎圣母院读书报告。I liked Quasimodo best,although he was the ugliest people in Paris.I thought he was the most beautiful one.He was also very grateful.When Esmeralda was judged wrongly and was going to be killed,he tried his best to save her life.He saved her from the death line and too
15、k her into the church of Notre Dame,where people cant be killed.He did whatever he could for her.Perhaps he did these because she used to help him,and perhaps because he loved her.Although Quasimodo was ugly,he was clean and honest in his heart.While other people were beautiful,but ugly in their hea

17、吧。雨果曾说:“以高瞻远瞩的目光来看事物。她会感到,万物中的一切都是合乎人性的美,她会发觉,美丑就在身边,畸形靠近着美,丑怪就藏在崇高的背后,美与恶并存,光明与黑暗相共。”波希米亚少女爱斯梅拉达是巴黎流浪人的宠儿,靠街头卖艺为生。她天真纯洁,富于同情心,乐于救助人。因为不忍心看见一个无辜者被处死,她接受诗人格兰古瓦做自己名义上的丈夫,以保全他的生命;看见卡西莫多在烈日下受鞭刑,只有她会同情怜悯,把水送到因口渴而呼喊的敲钟人的唇边。这样一个心地高贵的女孩,竟被教会、法庭诬蔑为“女巫”、“杀人犯”,并被判处绞刑。作者把这个人物塑造成美与善的化身,让她心灵的美与外在的美完全统一,以引起读者对她的无限
18、同情,从而产生对封建教会及王权的强烈愤恨。至于副主教克洛德和敲钟人卡西莫多,这是两个完全相反的形象。克洛德表面上道貌岸然,过着清苦禁欲的修行生活,而内心却渴求淫乐,对世俗的享受充满妒羡。自私、阴险、不择手段。而卡西莫多,这个驼背、独眼、又聋又跛的畸形人,从小受到世人的歧视与欺凌。在爱斯梅拉达那里,他第一次体验到人心的温暖,这个外表粗俗野蛮的怪人,从此便将自己全部的生命和热情寄托在爱斯梅拉达的身上,可以为她赴汤蹈火,可以为了她的幸福牺牲自己的一切。另两个特色人物,一个是徒有华丽外表、内心却无比阴险的菲比斯队长,他以极其恶劣的手段玩弄了爱斯梅拉达;另一个人是落魄诗人格兰古瓦,一个在夹缝中苟且偷生的
