2、具来研究信息的度量、传输和处理。在很多情况下,由于信息量巨大,信源消息是不可能完全发送出去 的,因而需要对消息进行有效的压缩处理;另一方面,在很多信道中往往存在干扰,因而导致消息在传输过程中会出现差错,因而需要对 消息进行检错和纠错处理,以使得在接收方能够收到可靠消息。这就构成信息论的中心问题:即为设计有效而可靠的通信系统提供理论依 据。本课程的目的是使学生深刻理解与信息度量相关的基本概念,牢固掌握描述通信系统极限性能的三个基本定理,了解这三个基本定理 在传输、处理一些实际系统的基本应用。为学生进一步学习后续专业课程打下坚实的基础。通过本课程的学习,使学生掌握一套系统地分 析通信系统基本问题的
3、理论,提高学生解决实际问题的能力。Elements of information theory is an important basic course for specialties of information science in all kinds of universities or colleges.Theoretically based on “A mathematical theory of communicationv , one famous article by Shannon, who is a contemporary great mathematicians and
4、 an American famous scientist and called the founder of information theory, information theory concerns about the measures, transmissions and processing of information by means of probabilities and statistics. In many cases, due to the huge amount of information and the constraints of physical condi
5、tion, it is impossible to transmit the complete source message. Thus it is necessary to efficiently compress the original source message. On the other hand, there often exists signal interference in channels, which will result in some errors in the message transmitted by these channels. Therefore, i
6、t is necessary to check and correct errors by preprocessing information. The above two problems consist of the main contents of information theory, i.e., providing a theoreticalbasis for the design of an effective and reliable communication system.The goal of this course is to make students deeply u
7、nderstand the basic concepts relevant to information measures, firm!y grasp the three fundamental Theorems which describe the ultimate performance of communication systems, and learn their basic applications of the three Theorems in transmitting and processing some real systems.
