5、ided Design(CAD)is the use of computer technology to aid in the design and particularly the drafting of a p a r t o r p r o d u c t.N o w a d a y s,C A D h a s b e c o m e a n especially important technology,which greatly improves work efficiency compared with hand drafting.It has many benefits such

7、ral different types of CAD.Each type requires the operator to think differently about how he will use it and design virtual components in a different manner.There are many producers of the lower end 2D systems.These provide an approach to the drawing process without the trouble on scale and placemen
8、t on the drawing sheet that accompanied hand drafting,since these can be adjusted as required during the creation of the final draft.With their help,designers do not need to worry about scale and placement on the drawing sheet.Unit 3Product DesigningReading A 3D wireframe is basically an extension o
9、f 2D drafting.Each line has to be manually inserted into the drawing.The final product has no mass properties associated with it and cannot have features directly added to it.3D“dumb”solids are created in a way similar to controlling real world objects.Basic three dimensional geometric forms have so
10、lid volumes added or subtracted from them,as if assembling or cutting real world objects.Two-dimensional projected views can easily be generated from the models.Unit 3Product DesigningReading A 3D parametric solid modeling requires the operator to use what is referred to as“design intent”.The object
11、s and features created are adjustable.Any future modifications will be simple,difficult,or nearly impossible,depending on how the original part was created.If a feature was intended to be located from the center of the part,the operator needs to locate it from the center of the model,not,perhaps,fro
