2、有 20篇 文 章（新 三 12篇，新 四 8 篇）,有 网 友 反 映 排 版 使 用 不 是 很 方 便，这 里 重 新 排 版。另 外 字 体 用 稍 微 大 一 点 的 5 号，眼 睛 会 舒 服 一 点，还 可 以 做 一 点 点 笔 记，不 过 页 数 会 增 加 一 点。蓝 色 加 粗 是 考 研 重 点 词 汇，要 从 课 文 句 子 中 掌 握 其 用 法，不 是 很 熟 的 最 好 查 一 下 牛 津 或 者 其 他 词 典；加 阴 影 紫 色 字 体 是 考 研 用 短 语 和 句 型.划 线 的 重 点 要 熟 练 应 用 的 句 子，尽 量 应 用 到 作 文 中 去

3、。对 这 36篇 文 章 最 好 是 听 写、翻 译、背 诵 一 步 步 来。先 把 文 章 听 写 出 来，然 后 翻 译 成 中 文，再 把 中 文 翻 译 成 英 文，最 后 背 诵。不 过 这 个 过 程 很 花 时 间，但 是 也 能 提 高 英 语 能 力。如 果 单 纯 考 研 应 试，英 语 不 想 考 那 么 高 分，而 其 他 科 目 需 要 的 时 间 多 点，那 就 只 背 诵 吧。背 诵 是 一 件 很 痛 苦 的 事 情，实 在 背 不 下 来，可 以 给 自 己 定 一 个 量 的 要 求：“50遍 啊 50遍!”甚 至 更 强 的“100遍 啊 100遍”读 了

19、s,boxers foughtwith bare fists for prize money.Because of this,they were known as prize-fighters*.However,boxingwas very crude,for there were no rules and a prize-fighter could be seriously injured or even killedduring a match.One of the most colourful fiaures in boxing history was Daniel Mendoza,wh

20、o was born in 1764.The use of gloves was not introduced until 1860,when the Marquis of Queensberry drew up the firstset of rules.Though he was technically a prize-fighter,Mendoza did much to change crudeprize-fighting into a sport,for he brought science to the game.In his day,Meodoza eniovedtremendo

21、us popularitv.He was adored bv rich and poor alike.Mendoza rose to fame swiftly after a boxing-match when he was only fourteen years old.Thisattracted the attention of Richard Humphries who was then the most eminent boxer in England.Heoffered to train Mendoza and his young pupil was quick to learn.I

22、n fact,Mendoza soon became sosuccessful that Humphries turned against him.The two men quarrelled bitterly and it was clear that theargument could only be settled by a fight.A match was held at Stilton,where both men fought for anhour.The public bet a great deal of money on Mendoza,but he was defeate

23、d.Mendoza met Humphriesin the ring on a later occasion and he lost for a second time.It was not until his third match in 1790 thathe finally beat Humphries and became Champion of Enqland.Meanwhile,he founded a highlysuccessful Academy and even Lord Byron became one of his pupils.He earned enormous s

24、ums ofmoney and was paid as much as 100 pounds for a single appearance.Despite this,he was soextravaaant that he was always in debt.After he was defeated by a boxer called Gentleman Jackson,he was quickly forgotten.He was sent to prison for failing to pay his debts and died in poverty in 1836.两 百 年
