3、ditional Xinjiang dishes,includingfresh noodles,fried fish and some other dishes cooked in hot oil.Many Chinese customers comehere to enjoy the dishes.To Zhous surprise,Chinese food is also gaining popularity amongEthiopians.Hermela Fanna is one of a growing number of Ethiopians with a taste for Chi

6、icken foods are making their way to the favorite food list ofmore people.Teenager Makes Movies Fun for Deaf ChildrenBecause of COVID-19,many people had to stay at home.Some people baked bread,some playedcomputer games and some read.What about 17-year-old Mariella Satow?She not only learnedAmerican S

7、ign Language(ASL),but also created an app that provides on-screen sign language forDisney movies.Thanks to the app,now deaf Disney fans can enjoy Disney movies fully.Mariella started learning ASL in 2020.She wanted to use television shows as learning materials,but she found that few of them offered

8、on-screen sign language.After further research,shediscovered that deaf people,especially deaf children,were not able to fully enjoy movies.Thenshe decided to change it.Using the money she made from dog-walking,she worked with ASLexperts and the deaf community to create Signllp.Users can download the

9、 free app by searching“Signllp in the Google Chrome Extension store.Since it came out,a great many people have visited the website.Many parents of deaf childrenhave used it and shared their love of the app.They are happy to see that their children can nowfully enjoy Disney movies.Teachers have also

11、n differences between one generation and the next.We call this ageneration gap.In the past,these differences were mainly about clothes or music.Nowadays,however,differences in the use of technology are also creating a gap.Todays teenagers were born in the digital age and are the first generation to

12、grow up with newtechnology.Computers,the Internet,e-mails,smartphones and text messaging are all part oftheir everyday lives.But how does this create the generation gap?Well,young people today are sometimes called“digital natives because they are“native speakers of the new language of computers and

16、ure multitasking!Forget Me Not CafeZhu Caiping is a 73-year-old woman with a 3-year history of cognitive impairment.Life used to behard for her.It was not until last year;after she took part in a reality show and became arestaurant server,that her situation began to improve greatly.The restaurant in

17、 Shanghai where she works is Forget Me Not Cafe,which has the same name asthe reality show.The restaurant shares the reality shows goal of providing job opportunities forelderly people who have cognitive impairment.The cafe has eight elderly employees with cognitive impairment who take turns working

18、 withother employees to help customers.provide basic services for guests,such as pouring water,serving and taking orders.I can now remember all the dishes on the menu/said Zhu,who comesto the restaurant three times a week and works three hours a day.“Other employees here take good care of us.They ne

19、ver allow us to serve hot dishes such assoups.The guests are also very tolerant of us,because sometimes we make mistakes/sheadded.Besides providing services,the elderly also take part in activities organized by volunteers likebaking,dancing and learning English.Other elderly people with cognitive im

23、later and do thesame things,but they can also be used to send text messages and make calls.Wearable technology has other uses too.It allows people to play video games on VR devices likethe Oculus Quest.And people in the medical industry have begun using a form of wearabletechnology that goes inside

24、your body.This includes medicine that sends health information frominside your stomach to a smartphone.Todays wearable technology may be interesting,but the future of wearable technology is simplyfascinating.With products from self-powered devices to smart contact lenses,the futurewearable devices a

25、re set to change our lives in exciting ways.Self-powered devices use your body to provide energy.For example,scientists are developingsmart shoes that can store the power created by walking.Contact lenses may soon be improved too.Scientists are working on creating smart contactlenses that can offer

26、help by tracking your eyes movements.They may even be able tounderstand your moods from your tears.The Parkinsons PainterNorman Greenstein lives in Hartford,Connecticut,USA.After being diagnosed with Parkinsons,he decided to turn his dark diagnosis into a good chance to achieve a lifelong dream.Now,

27、Norman Greenstein is known as“The Parkinsons Painter.When Norman was young,he loved painting and dreamed of being an artist.But a teacher of anart school didnt think he had a talent for painting after he showed his work to the teacher.ThenNorman put his dream aside,and supported his family whole-hea

28、rtedly.However,his love forpainting was always in his heart.In 2008,when he was diagnosed with Parkinsons and had to gettreatment,he decided to pick up the brush again.Then Norman began painting every day as away to stay busy.He joyfully found that this creative work helped him face the problems of

29、hisParkinsons.He said,Painting has brought me happiness and peace.Its a very important activityfor me.The simple movements while painting relax me/In addition to creating his own paintings,Norman also tries to help other people like him.Heraises money to support the research on Parkinsons.He shares

30、his experience with people withParkinsons in an effort to help them find the same relief.Also,Norman sells his paintings.Hegives away 20%of all sales to two Parkinsons research organizations.Norman didnt give up his dream in the face of Parkinsons.Instead,it has inspired him to workhard for his dream.And we may learn something from him.We never know what life will throwat us but we can choose how to face the difficulties in life.
