1、阅 读 理 解(二)建 议 类 AThough being a parent has never been easy,the Internet hasnt made the job any easier.Just how seriously areparents taking their role of monitoring(监 控)their childrens online behavior?A new study from the Digital Future Project finds a sharp difference in parental ways of Internet su
2、pervision(监 督).70%of parents say they monitor their kids online activity while on Facebook and other social media sites.Incontrast,30%of parents dont step in kids online life because they trust their kids,dont want to show a lack of trust,dont know how to use social media sites or dont have time to.
3、Such a divide is due to the fact that parents fall inmultiple generations with many different types of parenting styles.Many parents take a wide range of actions to monitor and police their teens online behavior.Nearly six-in-tenparents say they often or sometimes check which websites their teen vis
4、its.46%have password to log in theirchildrens social media accounts.In order to combat unsafe websites surfing,some parents even download softwaresuch as Spectorsoft,which blocks,records and alerts parents by monitoring kids Internet use.However,parenting expert Gwenn Schurgin O,Keeffe,CEO of a pare
5、nting website PediatricsN,advisesagainst using such software as Spectorsoft unless its a unique situation/You do things because you love your kidsand you want to protect them,she says.But kids arent these evil(邪 恶 的)creatures.Not trusting the online worldshould not be your only consideration.With gr
6、owing concerns,great efforts have been made globally to ensure Internet safety and quality foryoungsters.The US government updated COPPA(the Child Online Privacy Protection Act)to increase protection forchildrens private information.Europe has not only given people“the right to be fbrgotten,on socia

17、ing in your past,how it canhelp with your problems,etc.2.Reading does not have to be linearPeople believe they have to read everything,line by line,one after another.This is not only not true,but itsoften a waste of time and energy.When you buy a book,youre not buying the words,youre buying the usef
18、ul ideas.The point of a book is togather the information that is relevant and important to you,not to finish it or to understand every word.What mattersis the principle or key idea.Once youve received that principle or idea,theres no reason to feel obligated to sit thereand read the rest.3.Think cri
