8、n our social political and economic life. But for most of us today television has become our main source of news. According to a questionnaire on ways of obtaining information nearly 72 per cent of the people watch TV and only 12 per cent read newspapers for their daily news. Perhaps the great dispa
9、rity of ratio results from the easy access to television nowadays. This however puts us in a very disadvantageous position for the newspaper is a better source of news in many ways. Although television news excels in bringing into our living room dramatic events of singular importance: spacecraft la
10、unchings natural disasters record-breaking sports events wars and so on yet it cannot cover important stories in the depth they may deserve because of its time limit. Newspapers however can devote to a news item as much space as necessary and flesh it out with more details. Furthermore television by

Whether you like or dislike a particular piece of news you have to sit before the tube and watch it following its pace passively. But by reading newspapers you can select the most interesting news and skip over what you th
12、ink is boring or irrelevant. You can read some news in great detail or just run through it briefly. Also watching TV involves very little if any mental activity and a constant diet of television journalism leads to the decline in general intellectual skills such as reading and writing. 13、o this the print media encourages active involvement in what is being reported. Readers have to make greater efforts than TV viewers to follow and absorb a news report. When we consider television news versus newspaper news in terms of for mat coverage and nature is there any question as to which is

Therefore many of them are rather weak physically and psychologically. Besides they are easily led astray
22、 due to the absence of parental love and guidance.In my opinion measures should be taken to solve the problem. Firstly both people in the Cities and countryside should endeavor to offer love and concern to these children. The parents in particular should not make money at the sacrifice of ignorance
23、of their children.Secondly policies should be implemented so that children from countryside can also have access to educational opportunities medical care and other services in the city. Finally it is urgent to develop economy in the rural areas so that people can get well-paid jobs near their homes
