5、isterGalbraithbecameaninstructoratHarvardUniversity.In1937,hebecameanAmericancitizen.In1939,JohnKennethGalbraithbeganworkingforthegovernment.HejoinedtheNationalDefenseAdvisoryCommitteeinWashington.Later,hewasforcedtoresignfromthejobandstartedwritingforFortunemagazine.In1958,MisterGalbraithpublishedh
6、ismostfamousbook,TheAffluentSociety.HearguedthatwhileprivateindividualsinAmericawerebecomingwealthier,publicinstitutionsweregrowingpoor.HecriticizedtheAmericanculturethathesaidwasrichingoodsbutpoorinsocialservices.MisterGalbraithwasalsoinvolvedinpolitics,whichwasunusualforaneconomist.Hebecameatruste
7、dadvisertoPresidentJohnF.Kennedy.PresidentKennedyappointedhimambassadortoIndiain1961.Thirtyyearslater,MisterGalbraithreceivedIndiassecond-highestcivilianhonorforhisworktostrengthentiesbetweenIndiaandtheUnitedStates.Afterthetragedy,MisterGalbraithhadgoodrelationswiththenewpresidentLyndonJohnsonandbec
