3、eadingBefore ReadingBuild Background Writethefollowingquestionontheboardandread it aloud to students:Why do family members look alike?Havethemdiscussthisquestioninsmallgroups.Invite students to share their responses with the class.Pointouttostudentsthatcharacteristicssuchashair color,eye color,body
4、shape,and so on are all traits thatarepasseddowninfamilies.Writetheword traits on the board.Explain that the field of science that studies how living things pass down these traits is called genetics.Introduce the Book GivestudentstheircopyofGenetics at Work.Guidethemtothefrontandbackcoversandreadthe
5、 title.Have students discuss what they see on the covers.Encourage them to offer ideas as to what type of book it is(genre,text type,and so on)and what it might be about.Showstudentsthetitlepage.Discusstheinformation on the page(title of book,authors name).Previewthetableofcontentsonpage3.Remindstud
